Swingtide President Diane Carco and Senior Consultant Christopher Herman today joined legal experts Steve Gold and Brad Salmon of the outsourcing and technology transactions practice of international law firm McGuireWoods in a morning presentation to a Richmond, Virginia audience on the effect of the economic downturn on current and contemplated outsourcing arrangements.
Gold and Salmon of McGuireWoods began the session with a presentation entitled, “Getting In & Getting Out in the New World: Practical Tips for Engaging & Disengaging from Technology & Business Process Outsourcing.” Carco and Herman of Swingtide followed with, “Exposure to the Elements: The Outsourcing Health Check.” All presenters then joined in a round table discussion on engagement, disengagement, and ongoing value in outsourcing relationships.
“Companies contemplating outsourcing are experiencing a pincer effect as they assess their business case,” said Swingtide president Diane Carco. “They need the cost benefits more than ever, but the unpredictability of domestic and international labor costs make them less comfortable projecting their anticipated savings forward.”
“For companies in the middle of an outsourcing, the same sort of uncertainty applies to ongoing benefits,” added Swingtide’s Christopher Herman. “We hope that our presentation today has helped people take a deep breath and look at ways to make sure that their outsourcing is delivering the maximum possible benefits even in these tough times.”
